Things that I have learned this week:

  • It is not weather for tights. Or, at least, regular 2-pairs-for-€3 cheapo Penney's tights. I should not assume that these are acceptable attire when I has to wear three hoodies to bed the night before. Must invest in some woolies.
  • I am not a studier. Give me an essay to do in my own time anyday, I am an excellent waffler. But hand me four months worth of notes and expect me to learn them off and regurgitate them in an exam and I will do almost anything to avoid it. Especially when the notes are on stupid HTML, which, as far as I'm concerned, is information that will never be useful to me.
  •  I need to start taking things into my own hands, instead of assuming things will happen.
  • I always return to this when I should be doing something highly important.

I'm off for a month after this exam tomorrow, so I hope to get into a regular posting routine. Tomorrow also happens to be DIY Christmas jumper day, as my roommate and I try and create our own tacky jumpers. Perhaps I'll post on that.

I watched Home Alone last week, and am trying my best to get into Festive Spirit mode this year, due to a very anti-christmas humous in previousyears.

Again

And here commenceth another attempt at maintaining a regular blog.

Quick life update:

Have uprooted and am currently living in Dublin, undertaking a postgrad and a supposed-to-be-part-time-but-getting-much-more-hours-than-antcipated job. Meaning I never have a spare second to do anything. But it'sgood, it makes a nice change from my previous life of having nothing to do ever. I feel like I fit in in the city, because I'm always in a rush.

I've become obsessed with eating out, but that's not good because I need to start saving my money for future travel plans (coming soon).

Oh and people should buy tickets to this:

It's for a great cause, and it looks like it'll be a great night!

She's still got it...

I'm aware that the web is currently plastered with photos of Kate's big day, but doesn't she look amazing in her Galliano gown?

Bene-rave

I need to express my love for Benefit's new 'Cha-Cha Tint'. Boy oh boy...

Here's a list of reason's why you should go and invest in it

1. It appears a scary neon orange colour in the bottle, but put a couple of dots on your cheeks, blend in upwards and outwards, and it transforms into a delicious coral-pink colour.

2. You do only need just that - a couple of dots (well, depending on how dark you like your blusher), so it will last for aaaages.

3. It has a sort of gloopy, slightly-thicker-than-nail-varnish consistency. I had the original Benetint, a more red-coloured tint in the past. It was liquid, thin as water, and clumsy old me knocked it over after only owning it a couple of weeks. It spilled everywhere. Sickened.

4. It looks good on everyone! No really. I spent the day applying it to strangers of all ages and skin types, and I completely stand by that statement.

5. It looks great on lips too! Put a few dots across your lips, pat in with a finger and add a slick of lip gloss for a summery coral smile

6.Ok, it's a bit pricey at €33.50, but did I mention it'll last you ages? And looks good on everyone? I'm definitely purchasing some soon. When I stop being so ridiculously broke that is.

everybody's got to live their life

I've been neglecting this little blog of mine again. I suppose I've been trying to sort out Real Life, though that hasn't really worked out either. I am unemployed once again. The place where I had been working took on their summer staff rather hastily, and then realised they weren't doing as much business as they'd hoped. They left it at a 'we'll call you', but I'm not holding out too much hope.

I'm semi-regretting not applying for further study in September. I assumed getting a job would be a lot easier than this, and that I would be able to work and save, and figure out what it is I want to do long term, and maybe do some work experience relating to that. And travel. I'm only twenty, ugh. And I'm listening to The Smiths right now, is it any wonder I'm sounding so morose.

I'm just back from a four day holiday to Germany, which was something. I wouldn't have been able to go had we not booked the flights ages ago, and had the accommodation not been free. I gave up the job hunt for a while, and just up and went. Exploring and eating and drinking and staying out til 6am, plus a day trip to
Luxembourg city.. I'll post a couple of photos soon. I might have spent every cent I own, but I don't regret it. There's talks of going interrailing next summer, and I can't wait.

For now it's back to job hunting, possibly signing on, and figuring out what the hell I'm going to do come September. Aye aye aye.

I've just made a smoothie, however, and it's delicious. I've never made a proper-from-scratch one before. Mmmm. . .

Impulse

Saving commences now. I justified the fact that sterling prices work out cheaper to go on a little internet spree for myself last night. How annoying is it that the euro prices in shops are not a direct conversion, instead they are way more expensive? Also the fact that they have stopped showing both prices on tags so you can't compare. Topshop just rip off the sterling prices from the end of the tag, you can clearly see it. And River Island have started putting stickers over them. You used to be able to see both prices and compare, which is something I used to do a lot.

Anyway

And I bought these today:

[EDIT] I was in Tophop today (no harm in looking!), and noticed a rail of dresses, all of which had the ends of their tags ripped off, except for one. The Sterling price was 29 pounds. The euro price was 44!! That's what, a good tenner extra, conversion included, at least! Is there a reason for this?? It seems shopping online is the way forward!

23.

Well, they're done. Exams finito forever, college over. The only thing I'm lacking is the apparent Future Plans of my classmates, who were full of talk of TEFLs and trips to Asia and Masters'. I chickened out on further education for now, mainly because I haven't the slightest notion what it is I want to do. And so I turn to the job option.

I had a trial in an Italian restaurant the past two nights, and they've rostered me on for a couple of more days during the week, so fingers crossed. I managed not to fuck up any orders despite not a word of the menu being in English, and although I did nearly drop a hot plate on a lady (nobody else saw, therefore it did not happen - That would have been awkward) they've asked me back. The owner wasn't there however, which is why I ended up doing the 25 minute walk home in the dark last night swinging a bottle of beer and a free pizza. She's back from Italy at the end of the week, and then her judging eyes will decide my fate. Pressure on.

In other news, I finally got around to watching the film Buried during the week, after hearing about it for quite a while. Wow. I admit I didn't expect much from a film about a guy in a box, but it's great, lots of suspense, and that guy from all those awful chick flick films can actually act. Who knew.

Apologies Ryan Reynolds. I didn't mean it. I love you.

I've been smothered by study, exams and a new job of late, so it's been hard to find the time to post. I'll be back in action properly after the 11th of May. I'll leave you with this, for the day that's in it tomorrow and simply because I think they're really cool - Nerdy wedding cakes!!

I've never needed a steady income more. Topshop are launching their new collection of dresses entitled Dress Up on April 14th and I want them all. I can't wait to see how ridiculous the prices are gonna be, but ohhh, aren't they pretty?

Mary Kate Love

I'm officially the laziest bitch going. I hate the word 'procrastinate', but I'mma have to use it. WhatamIdoingggg???

Anyway. My point. I was watching Off The Rails the other evening, as you do, and they did a feature on how to dress like Mary Kate Olsen. My passionate love of all things Mary Kate was reignited. Damn that girl knows how to dress. Her leathers and furs. Those long, flowy fabrics. Those items that really shouldn't work together, but somehow she manages to make them fit together perfectly. The scarves, the hats, oversized bags and sunglasses, the boots. She rocks the 'oh it's just something I threw together' look, and it seems to work every time.

The girls were let choose their own outfits for the first time for the premier of Charlie's Angels in 2003, and neither have looked back since.

Things I Need to Bear In Mind

1. I am now Ipod-less, camera-less, hair straightener-less, have a laptop that is only semi-functioning and am lucky to have a working phone. Must stop breaking electronics. Must look into replacing at least three of these. Consider winning lotto first?

2. I am not going to study after watching one more episode of Breaking Bad/leaving college for a 'nap'/going to the pub/going to the arcade. Study BEFORE always. Stop coming up with ridiculous ways of avoiding work.

3. Always look in Penneys first. Their stock has actually gotten really good, and they have many items that are very similar to those in more expensive shops. Must leave the Topshopping for when I get a job, after exams. Also, spending an hour in the library drooling over summer dresses and fabulous boots on ASOS followed by an extended tea break is not productive.

4. Lie-ins are not my friend.

In Matters of Cloth, He's as Fickle as Can Be, 'Cause He's a Dedicated Follower of Fashion

I'm not a tidy person. I never have been. I'll prioritise most things over picking my clothes up off the floor, or sorting through that pile of books in the corner. Trouble is, I have a lot of clothes. And a lot of books. And DVDs, CDs, magazines. Shoes. Yep, I'm a bit of a hoarder. And it doesn't help that the room I'm currently renting is rather small.  Though I'm far too lazy for its upkeep, I dream of a gloriously organised bedroom, all shelving and walk-in wardrobes. Wouldn't it be wonderful.

My clothes would be on display for me every morning, rather than balled up beneath my feet.

Oh to have a little Carrie in my life!

Or even Nicole Richie

And as for bookshelves...
