Enda Photoshop

Everyone's been talking about this Boards thread in the past week, so I've just had a peek and it is, as I'd expected, all kinds of hillarious.

Anticipating Summer Part 1

Arcade Fire. Pulp. The Chemical Brothers. Interpol. Beirut. Mogwai. The Go! Team. Willy Mason. Walkmen... and many, many more incredible acts. The Electric Picnic lineup was announced yesterday, and though it's not until September, I'm SO excited. There's nothing like it to finish off your Summer on a high note, and to anyone who has never been, I urge you to check it out this year. Tickets went on sale this morning.

Forgetfullness

.. along with business have led to my unfortunate neglect of this project. Not that it's much of a project at all, yet anyway. I'll figure out where I'm going with it soon. For now, I've a pile of work to do tomorrow and I'm off to Tedfest on Saturday, so a proper post shall follow soon after.

Everyday oughta be a bad day for you

I've set up a make-shift study area in my room using the ironing board as a desk, one of the kitchen chairs and my bedside lamp. I've got all the diet coke in the world; I burnt the popcorn but that's ok. I can now only open to door about four inches, but I'm only allowing myself bathroom leave, and I'll solve that problem when it arises. I'm about to hide my O2 internet stick on myself, and I'm gonna have the most productive week there ever was. Assignment city AHOY.

Karen O Love

Lately I can't sleep. Or rather, there were several nights where I couldn't and now I'm in a terrible cycle of sleeping into the afternoon and being wide awake most of the night.

I felt a bit tired the other day, having been out the night before, so I decided going to bed at ten and getting a full nights sleep would cure me once and for all. I awoke, feeling completely refreshed, to realise it was only gone HALF ELEVEN. And of course, sleep did not come again for hours and hours and hours. AAAAH.

I know exactly what I need to do. I need to force myself to get up early, be shattered for a whole day, get a full night's sleep and be a freshed-face scamp by the time the following morning comes. Trouble is, however much I intend on doing this, once that alarm goes off to awaken me, I find myself justifying more sleep over most things, however important. Actually, half the time I turn off the alarm in my sleep.

I'm going to have to make concrete morning plans. Something I can't get out of. An appointment? I'm not sick though. Maybe a breakfast date with a friend who'll get a bit narky if I don't show? Hmmm. I'm not sure I should try and trick Morning Me, she's outsmarted me every step so the way so far.

07.

I'm home for the night and got to drive the car for a whole hour today so I'm feeling very pleased with myself altogether.

January was a good month; a trip to Germany, the commencement of long chain of twenty first birthday parties and a general shirking of responsibility to mention but a few of the things I've been up to.

MA applications coming SOON. I'm going to pay a visit to the exhibition in the RDS the week after next and hopefully set my mind to something. It seems like I'm leaving it awfully late, but surely they wouldn't hold the exhibition after deadlines had closed? Must look into that.

I can't make up my mind about the General Election on the 25th of this month. Despite having been on the register for over two years, I have yet to vote. I want to vote this time, but it's just everything is so fucked, and everyone so biased it's difficult to come to a logical decision. Not an Enda fan, I know that much. Ugh, maybe it'll become clearer for me closer to the time.

A Very General Post

Happy New Year! I'm not back to college for another week, so still being in my pyjamas at half three in the afternoon is totally acceptable. I'll start the whole resolutions/priorities in line thing next week. It'll be the usual, eat better, exercise more, achieve outstanding results in college (!). Also sort out what the hell I'm going to do in september, to post-grad or not to post-grad.

New Year's was good fun. I wore this dress and had found great enjoyment out of the wing sleeves once I'd gotten a few drinks in me.

Further thoughts on resolutions: Do something or go somewhere I've never done/been before once a week. I'd say a day but I doubt I'd be able for that level of commitment. Also clean my bedrooms, at home and in the flat.

I was looking back over previous posts earlier (which took all of five minutes, I'll add posting regularly to the list), and I mentioned something about wanting snow this winter. HA. I got that wish didn't I? A solid month of freezing weather just over and apparently there's more on the way. Enough already! Friends abroad almost didn't make t home for Christmas, but should than themselves lucky they weren't one of the ten people who ended up having to sleep in Dublin Aiport on Chritsmas night, along with countless others in airposts all over Europe.

Back to reality next week, but for now I'm happy on the couch in my pyjamas, laptop and dvd player within reach and my pile of Christmas reading.

SIX.

Working retail at Christmas is awful. Why is it that the minute the sale starts people think it's acceptable to discard the clothes they've decided not to buy ON THE FLOOR?? You wouldn't have done that when the dress was €70, would you? You're not even doing it because its only €45 now, it's because it USED to be €70, and has now lost some of its value or something. You see me on the floor picking up items by the armful, and, ok, you'll put that cardigan carefully back on the hanger when I'm standing beside you, but I know I'll come back five minutes later to see all my work undone, people trampling clothes into the ground. Before this, before the sales and the pre-christmas day gift-buying panic, you were almost pleasant. Definitely polite. Now you care little for me, jostling me out of the way to get your hands on a discount skirt, that you're only buying because it was apparently a whole forty euro more expensive at some point, and if that's not a bargain you don't know what is. It does look a bit on the small side, but the queue for the tills is so long, you decide to purchase it without trying it on. You barge forward, maybe knocking a rail or four to the ground on your way, pushing past that old lady because, hey, you were here first.

Oh my God leave me alone!!!

And being paid monthly is not fun either.

Happy Christmas anyway, I had a fairly tame and uninteresting one this year, but it's nice to have a break.
